Our Allied Health

To offer a truly comprehensive service, we have onsite allied health professionals at our medical centre. This includes the services of dietician, podiatrist, psychologist, exercise physiologist and others. We have a visiting medical specialist (e.g. endocrinologist, hypertension specialist) to help patients deal with complex medical conditions at the Underwood branch. Also, we have pathology services onsite for your convenience.

Podiatrist – Matthew Christie (Underwood and Cannon Hill)

A good start to the day can be as simple as getting off on the right foot. Matthew’s passion is the treatment of lower limb pain and pathology, to bring about improved function so you can go about your passion pain free.

 

​Matthew’s 10 year career saw him graduate with an upper class honors degree in podiatry from the University of Southampton England. Starting in the National Health Service providing lower limb treatment, education and prevention care to those at risk of amputation. He then took the clinical lead role for the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s diabetes outpatient service before overseeing podiatry services for those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness in Melbourne’s inner suburbs. In addition, Matthew was the lead podiatrist for the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service and worked closely alongside Polio Victoria and Reclink Australia, providing sports podiatry services to several charity sponsored teams.

 

Following a successful campaign in Melbourne, Matthew moved to rural South West QLD and worked alongside the Royal Flying Doctors to set up and run 9 outreach podiatry clinics. Here he provided lower limb health services to local sports teams, children referred by local school health initiatives, local aboriginal communities, and anyone in the community suffering with lower limb pain, mobility and foot related health issues.

 

Matthew’s key strengths are in the areas of acute and chronic lower limb injury management, lower limb pathology secondary to chronic disease (diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, polio and strokes), podiatric dermatology and paediatric podiatry.

Coralie is a well – known and well – liked psychologist in Logan and Brisbane area. She is passionate about her work and has great compassion for helping people.

Dietitian – Andrea Love (Undewood)

Graduating with a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) from the Queensland University of Technology, Andrea is passionate about all things food-related.

She enjoys building close, professional relationships with clients in order to develop personalised strategies that achieve goals. Andrea believes that no one person is the same; and endeavours to find what works best for each client, using a supportive, patient-centred approach.

Andrea believes that food is wonderful, and when eaten in proportion, brings nothing but enjoyment to every aspect of life. It is her belief that food is social, artistic and creative as much as it is sustenance; combine it with a healthy lifestyle and mind, and an individuals quality of life can be dramatically improved. In her spare time, you’ll find Andrea in the kitchen cooking, blogging, or photographing her culinary creations. She is a social media fiend and is not shy about whipping out her phone at the dinner table to get the best shot.

Andrea’s professional interests include weight management, paediatric nutrition and gastrointestinal disorders.

Dietitian – Emmi Smith (Cannon Hill)

Emmi Smith is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist who is passionate about helping her clients achieve their health and wellbeing goals. Emmi has completed both a Master of Dietetics Studies and a Bachelor of Health Science with a major in Nutrition. Emmi has extensive experience working in private practice and hospital settings helping patients in a range of areas including weight management, diabetes, cholesterol management, sports nutrition, women’s health and gastrointestinal disorders.
Emmi keeps up-to-date with scientific literature and uses evidenced-based guidelines to inform her practice. However, she also appreciates that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to health, and provides each of her clients with individualised advice. Emmi does not promote restrictive eating; instead she focuses on teaching and motivating her clients to live a healthy, happy lifestyle by making small sustainable changes that can easily become new habits.
Emmi’s professional interest areas include food allergies and intolerances, women’s health and diabetes management. Emmi is also passionate about contributing to nutrition and dietetics research and recently completed a study investigating the nutritional status, dietary intake and quality of life of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Emmi has presented her research at several events including the Dietitians Association of Australia national conference.
