Umesh is an empathetic licensed psychologist dedicated to guiding individuals on their path to emotional well-being.
Born and raised in Nepal, he calls Australia his second home for almost two decades, where he completed all his university studies and internships in both disciplines. He is multilingual, has a cross-cultural approach and supportive of gender diversity. He brings extensive experience providing psychotherapy to youth and adults in the general population, as well as first responders, who have experienced complex mental health disorders.
He has almost a decade of experience working in the mental health field in the public and private sectors, as well as various NGOs across Victoria and Queensland. He was also a Social Worker prior to becoming a psychologist.
Umesh exercises the essential values of recognising the importance of human connection and relationships. It is a fundamental belief to Umesh, that all people are unique, with differing life experiences, values and opinions, and that people are treated with dignity and respect.
He has a special interest in working with clients aged 14+ years who have experienced trauma and its associated disorders such as, Anxiety and Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Chronic Self-harm and Suicide Ideation, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Body-image Issues, Low Self-esteem and Interpersonal Difficulties.

Umesh has specialist experience with therapeutic interventions for both individuals and groups, with diagnosed psychiatric disorders and mental health concerns. He uses a strength-based, compassionate, person-centric approach, with unconditional positive regard. He applies an intuitive and effective communication style, while valuing the diversity of culture and people’s backgrounds which encompasses each individual. He is multilingual and has a cross-cultural approach, and supportive of gender diversity.
Umesh also provides evidence-based treatments, with a combined approach, and works with techniques such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Umesh has extensive experience providing psychotherapy to youth and adults in the general population, as well as first responders, who have experienced complex mental health disorders. He also has extensive experience in leading specialised group psychotherapy programs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Group, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Group, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Group and Trauma Recovery Program for Veterans and First Responders.
