29 Mar Heart Health Checks
Is it time to get your heart health check with your GP?
¹One Australian has a heart attack or stroke every four minutes
The Heart Foundation advises that regular heart health checks with your GP help you better understand your risk of a heart attack or stroke in the next five years as well as help you make positive changes to lower your risk.
If you’re 30 and over, you can book for a Heart Health assessment with your GP
Top Health Doctors always encourage patients to be proactive with their health care and believe prevention and planning for optimal health is best. In line with this, we recommend patients to have their heart checked with their Doctor.
Heart checks will include:
- General blood test and cholesterol check
- Blood pressure check
- CT Coronary Calcium score – a quick scan (less than 20 minutes) to assess the degree of plaques in the vessels to one’s heart.
- ECG or Holter monitor – an electrical reading of your heart if you have palpitations
